12 Months of Grounding

Welcome, I am so glad you are here!

As I think about some of the most important work that clients do in their counseling, the word that comes to mind is GROUNDING. It all begins from this place: this place of presence, solid foundation, ability to regulate, and the list goes on. It's an essential piece of all therapy work, but its especially important in the trauma work that most often happens in the therapy space.

So what is grounding, anyways?

Grounding is a set of techniques or tools that help to keep a person in the present. They are helpful in re-orienting back to the current moment, the here and now. Grounding is often employed when a person is feeling emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, fearful, or stuck. All of this is to say, that grounding is pretty important.

As we move into this new year, I would like to invite you to take a journey with me, into living in the new year with grounded presence and awareness. Each month, I am going to focus in on a specific aspect of grounding, and together we can work on diving deeper into each area and making it your own.

In order to participate, you don't need to become a master of meditation....maybe grounding looks different for you, and THAT'S OK. This is about finding what feels good, bringing you into the present, enjoying your life more fully, and getting you to a space to invite more feelings of safety, control and comfort into your body. Perhaps you will join on this journey to assist in your preparation for the work you are doing in your own therapy.
